Dear Friends:
This Sunday, December 18, All Saints will worship at two services, 8:30 and 10:30a.m.
The 10:30a.m. service will be a special service of nine lessons and carols followed by the Eucharist.
Vicky Beall will conduct Church School in the rector’s office and Child Care will be offered in the Pre-K classroom.
This Sunday will also be our Annual Caroling Party. Subject to confirmation with Lana Guidetti and the Harborage, we will sing for Ella Zerga about 2:00p.m. (leaving All Saints at 1:30p.m.). Then, we will sing for John Stellingwerf at his home at 226 Fort Lee Road, (a.k.a. The Cane family home) at 3:00p.m. Then on to Brightside Manor, where The Rev’d Joanne O’Neill is a staff member, at 4:00p.m. We’ll sing next for one member of The Church of the Atonement, before completing our journey at the rectory for a party about 5:30p.m. It’s an ambitious schedule, but think of the joy you’ll bring and the fun of singing carols. You do not have to participate in the entire afternoon – please come for what you and your family can do.
It’s not too late to remember John Stellingwerf’s birthday. (“Happy Birthday” will be one “carol” we’ll sing for him.) John will be 101 years old this Saturday, December 17. You can send a card to: John Stellingwerf, 226 Fort Lee Road, Leonia, NJ 07605.
On Saturday, December 24, Christmas Eve, you have two choices of worship: Eucharist at 3:00 or 10:00p.m. Joyce Chang will sing a solo at both services. On Sunday, December 25, Christmas Day, All Saints will offer one service at 10:30a.m.
Before Christmas Eve on Friday, December 23 at 12noon, you’re invited to have your picture taken with Santa Claus at the Child Care Center’s Annual Holiday Party.
The Child Care Center will then be closed until Tuesday, January 3, 2012. The Church Office will close at 2:00p.m. on December 23 and it will be closed on Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 2, 2012. The church’s answering machine is checked for messages even when the office is closed – and you may also call me at home.
This is your last chance to order Christmas Poinsettias. Please contact Andrea Pieper in the church office by Friday, December 16.
The 2012 Offering Envelopes (for parishioners who requested them) will be available in the Narthex this Sunday.
Thanks to Bill McColl for his annual appearance as Saint Nicholas last Sunday. Everyone enjoyed his account of Bishop Nicholas of Myra who became the patron saint of children and sailors.
The All Saints Stewardship Campaign is nearing $50,000 (last year’s total was $55,000). Several pledges from last year are outstanding – is one of them yours? Please bring or mail your signed pledge card to All Saints as soon as you can.
Don’t forget – The Friends of The New Milford Public Library will be holding a Holiday Shopping Boutique. on Saturday, December 17, from 1-5p.m. Vendors will include handcrafted jewelry; homemade chocolates; Origami; Arbonne; Partylite; Avon and more. The Friends Holiday Basket Raffle will also be held at 4pm and this year will included selected items donated by the Vendors.
A complete calendar through Sunday, January 8 follows this message.
Wherever you may be this Christmas, please keep All Saints in your thoughts, and know that you are part of a Christian Community where you are loved.
May God bless you and all whom you love.
